Our route passes through the main appellations of origin of wine in Georgia located in the regions of Kakheti and Kartli. In this tour, we spend two days in the region of Kakheti mostly visiting the wineries located in the famous win appellations of this region: Tsinandali, Kindzmarauli and Napareuli. The remaining two days we will use for visiting micro-wineries of Kartli region producing wine in their cellars known as Marani with special fermentation vessel called Qvevri, monuments of the UNESCO world heritage and the capital city of the country.
Right upon your arrival we take you to Kakheti – most famous and the main producer region of Georgian wines also hosting most of the wine appellations of origin of the country. After the pleasant dinner at one of the famous local wineries we move to the ethnographic style hotel in little mountainous town known as Signagi. Here we rest, sip some local wine and stay overnight.
Late breakfast and departure – we continue our trip in Georgia’s wine heart – Kakheti. Her whole day we will be moving between the famous wineries and their vineyards coupled with visits to cultural heritage sites also related to the history of winemaking – Alaverdi monastery, Gremi fortress, and Tsinandali Museum. Today we will join the culinary master classes in one of the local wineries that we will be visiting during the lunchtime. Wine from qvevri vessel will be served to our lunch. At the end of the day, we will reach Tbilisi where one of the old town restaurants will be waiting for us with outstanding dishes for dinner. From the restaurant, we will have a quick transfer to our hotel located not far from the restaurant. We stay in Tbilisi for tonight.
Old Tbilisi will be at our disposal from the morning. As soon as we are done with our breakfast we will cross the old town on foot, visit the oldest streets as well as the main and oldest fortress of the city called Narikala. At noon we complete our walking part at the famous Theatre of Gabriadze – known for its unique puppet plays. Our lunch at the old town followed by the visit in the Georgian medieval sites of UNISCO heritage located in the ancient capital of Georgia – Mtskheta. Our next stop is the royal chateau with stunning winery, vineyards, and forest near the Mtskheta. For dinner, we go to the ranch of one of the local micro-winemakers of Kartli region. We return to Tbilisi and stay there overnight.
After the check out from our hotel, we visit the souvenir market at the place called Dry Bridge. For lunch, we go to one of the local ethnographic restaurants where we will taste one of the varieties of local cheese called Sulguni made by the Chef of the restaurant himself. We leave directly to the airport after lunch.
