Georgian polyphonic songs and dances are remarkable and world renowned.  The traditions have been kept alive for centuries, a still living tradition that continues to develop and change while retaining its essential essence.  Mravalzhamier, one of the most famous of Georgia’s traditional polyphonic songs, has very deep roots. The song’s meaning (many years) shares a similar sentiment with the traditional tunes of Mediterranean nations but has a very different sound. It is interesting to note that Mravalzhamier is only sung in regions where Georgians grow grape vines. Each wine region has its own version of Mravalzhamier.
