The route goes through the famous Western Georgian viticultural appellation – Khvanchkara, located in the region of Racha. On this tour we spend two days in Ambrolauri – centre of the region visiting the wineries in this appellation: Khvanchkara, Bugeuli and Chrebalo. The remaining two days we will spend in the Parliamentary capital of Georgia – Kutaisi and its surroundings visiting beautiful nature reserve and UNESCO heritage sites.
We meet you upon arrival at Kutaisi airport. After the airport pick up we will straightly heat to the centre of the Racha region – Ambrolauri. Khvanchkara wine appellation surrounds this little town. After the pleasant ethnographic dinner at the hotel, we will relax and stay overnight at the ethnographic hotel in Ambrolauri.
Late breakfast and checkout and we start introducing ourselves with the surrounding villages by going between the local wineries, their vineyards and the cultural heritage areas of this region – Nikortsminda and Barakoni cathedrals. Later on, we join the food and wine masterclasses at one of the local wine cellars we visit in the village of Sadmeli. By the end of the day we will arrive for dinner in Kutaisi and stay here overnight.
Kutaisi town centre is will be at our disposal from the morning. As soon as breakfast is over we cross the old town on foot, visit Bagrati Cathedral. Our lunch will be waiting in the suburbs of Kutaisi next to the Prometheus Cave. Next, we head to the medieval monastery in the mountains named Gelati. For dinner, we join one of the local winemaker’s estate in the village. We come back to Kutaisi for an overnight stay.
After the checkout, we visit downtown. For lunch, we go to one of the local exotic restaurants – Palati, and taste their special dishes while chatting with the chef and the owner of the restaurant.
